报告摘要:

Magnetic MEMS/NEMS were designed and fabricated for bio-detection and bio-manipulation. First, some three-dimensional MEMS/NEMS structures were proposed as biosensors. These three-dimensional magnetic sensors can actively attract the magnetically labeled cells to the sensor position and fix the cells to be detected, which is advantageous over traditional two-dimensional thin film biosensors. Besides, by the integration of the spintronics and microfluidics, a Wheatstone bridge giant magnetoresistance (GMR) biosensor was also demonstrated for the detection and counting of magnetic cells. Second, manipulating cells in specific positions is a very important issue for cell scaffold applications. In our study, by controlling magnetic domain walls in patterned magnetic thin films, the patterning of magnetic cells can be achieved. We also demonstrated that self-assembling of magnetic fluid or microdroplets can be used to form periodic lattice structures which can be employed for cell culture scaffolds. These research results can be applied to tissue engineering. Finally, the ferrofluid molding technique was also used to systematically understand how the inclination of the trichome structures on leaf surface influences the wettability of leaves.

Dr. Ronhan Wei received his B.S. degree from the Department of Zoology (now renamed as Life Science) of National Taiwan University in 1995. Also, he received his M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in Physics from the National Taiwan University in 1997 and 2001, respectively. Dr. Wei joined the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering and Institute of NanoEngineering and MicroSystems at National Tsing Hua University as an assistant professor in 2005, and he was promoted to a professor since 2014. Dr. Wei is now a Distinguished Professor of School of Mechanics and Engineering Science at Zhengzhou University since 2018. Dr. Wei’s previous Ph.D./Postdoctoral research focused on theoretical calculation in nanomagnetism. After joining NTHU, he started to transfer his research to nanofabrication, biomicrofulids, biosensing, micro/nanomagnetic sensors and actuators, and so on. So far, Dr. Wei’s group has successfully developed many unique biosensing techniques and novel instrumentation. Dr. Wei has 85 SCI journal papers published (or in press) and 15 US and Taiwan patents issued. For the last five years, Dr. Wei has published 36 SCI papers, including some high impact factor journals (一区Top期刊) such as Nano Letters, Advanced Functional Materials, Small, Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Lab on a Chip, etc.. Two articles were selected as the highlight covers on Advanced Functional Materials and Small. He has given many invited talks at reputed international conferences such as the world's largest two magnetic conferences (each with about 1700 presentations), the 61st Annual Conference on Magnetism and Magnetic Materials (2016) and INTERMAG 2018. He is the recipient of several awards, including a 2014 Dr. Da-Yu Wu Memorial Award (Outstanding Young Researcher Award) of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a 2015 Research Excellence Award of Taiwan Association for Magnetic Technology, a 2016 Excellent Young Scientists Research Funding from Ministry of Science and Technology and a 2016 Distinguished Young Scholar Award of Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics(Taiwan).
